Un paseo por Torredembarra
Torredembarra- more than a beach resort
The town of Torredembarra was founded by the Romans and lies between Tarragona (12 km) and Barcelona (75 km) on the Costa Dorada (Gold Coast). It can be reached by the AP-7 motorway and the N-340 provincial road. Torredembarra is served by the railway line running between Barcelona and Tarragona. This provides a good connection with Barcelona which can be reached in less than an hour, making it a suitable base for commuters. The airports of Reus and Barcelona make Torredembarra a favoured European destination.
Today the population of Torredembarra is over 15.000 which is swollen by visitors at the week-ends and during the summer months.
Torredembarra has lots to offer: a harbour for leisure craft with numerous restaurants and bars, a lively promenade, a yacht club, a miles long and perfectly cared for sandy beach, cliff walks to the next beach where you will come across the last light house built in Spain, a nature reserve along the beach as well as the old fishing village. The lively old town with its narrow alleys and church and the stately town hall. Several neighbourhoods surround the old town and reach to the coast. Several camping sites and apartment buildings provide accommodation for a wonderful family holiday during the summer months and a quiet break during the low season. No mass tourism or large hotels disturb the residential life style in this Mediterranean landscape along the sparkling sea. Supermarkets, specialised shops, a weekly market, schools and a 24/7 medical centre complete the excellent facilities that Torredembarra has to offer. A lively town, full of interesting sights and wonderful things to discover. Come and be our neighbour- we look forward to welcoming you in Torredembarra!
